Host an AFDW

Help shape the future of African scholarship by hosting our flagship faculty development initiative.

About Hosting

AFAM invites expressions of interest from universities and business schools across Africa to host the Africa Faculty Development Workshop (AFDW) — our flagship initiative supporting early-career academics and advanced PhD students to develop high-quality, publishable research.

Each AFDW brings together emerging scholars, experienced mentors, and institutional partners to foster writing, publishing, and scholarly engagement in African management research.

Why Host an AFDW?

  • Showcase your institution’s commitment to academic excellence and thought leadership in Africa
  • Strengthen your global and regional networks by connecting faculty and postgraduate students with international scholars
  • Contribute meaningfully to the development of research skills, mentorship, and scholarly output across the continent
  • Secure reserved workshop slots for local scholars and foster institutional visibility on a global academic stage

What's Involved?

Hosting involves collaboration with AFAM to deliver a 5-day, in-person workshop. Host institutions typically assist with:

Venue and on-site logistics
Local accommodation–venue transfers
Catering (meals and refreshments)
General local support for participants and mentors
AFAM manages the academic program, oversees participant selection, and coordinates engagement with its global network of faculty mentors.
