2006

Baniyelme Zoogah’s review of JAB publication identified a gap in Management Scholarship in the journal.  Resolved to propose a caucus in Academy of Management (AOM) to bring together Management Scholars in AOM.

 

2007

Baniyelme Zoogah submits a caucus proposal for the Africa Research Caucus Group.

 

2008

First caucus for the Africa Research Group held in AOM, Anaheim, CA: 15 participants.

 

2009

Jim Walsh, the outgoing President of the Academy attended the caucus of the Africa Research Group and pledged to help the group grow.

 

2010

First by-laws drafted.  

Leadership: Stella Nkomo, 1st President; Baniyelme Zoogah, Secretary; Moses Acquaah, Treasurer; and 3 regional representatives.

 

 

2011

First Africa Faculty Development Workshop (AFDW) in Ghana, supported by AOM

 

2012

Second AFDW in Rwanda, supported by AOM

 

2013

7-10 Jan. 2013, in Johannesburg, South Africa. Partnered with AOM to organize first global conference in Africa.

 

2014

2nd Biennial Conference (1st on the Continent) in Gaborone, Botswana.

Africa Journal of Management (AJOM) launched with Moses Kiggundu as Editor in Chief.

 

2015

First AJOM Publication.

 

2016

Affiliation with AOM.

3rd Biennial Conference in Nairobi, Kenya.

 

2017

AFDW in Ghana

 

2018

4th Biennial Conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

1st Leadership succession: Baniyelme Zoogah Elected President; Moses Acquaah, Vice President; Eileen Kwasiga Treasurer (who later resigned); Judy Muthuri, Membership Chair, Nceku Nyathi, Communications Chair, Benson Honig, Liaison Chair; 3 at large representatives
