  • At the first biennial conference in San Antonio, USA, the Africa Research Group was disbanded as the Africa Academy of Management was inaugurated. The Program Chair was Baniyelme Zoogah who as the Secretary. In attendance were the President of AOM, Prof. James P. Walsh, and ex-President of the International Federation of Scholarly Associations of Management (IFSAM), Dr. Sue Bruning who was a keynote speaker.
  • The 1st Africa Faculty Development Workshop (AFDW) was held in Ghana in December, supported by AOM. AFAM sponsored ten (10) early scholars from Africa to attend the inaugural Academy.
