Standing Committees

AFAM has six (6) standing committees that work to fulfil the mission and objectives of the academy. According to the AFAM By-Laws, all standing committees consist of five (5) members. All committees are chaired by an Executive Board member. Members are recruited from both the Executive as well as the AFAM membership. Special efforts are made to include members in Africa. Contact the AFAM President to signal your interest to serve in any capacity.

Finance Committee

Works closely with the Treasurer to ensure sound financial management of AFAM assets and identify funding sources.

Capacity Building Committee

Identifies educational opportunities and manages faculty development workshops and webinars.

Nominating Committee

Proposes candidate slates for Executive Board positions and conducts biennial elections.

Program Committee

Plans and manages biennial conferences including theme selection, host evaluation, and program coordination.

Membership Committee

Develops comprehensive membership strategies and recruits members across Africa and the diaspora.

Awards Committee

Recognizes research, education, and practice excellence in management in/or about Africa
