How to Join?

AFAM invites academics, practitioners, and students interested in management in Africa. Membership builds collaborative relationships among African scholars and the Diaspora engaged in research on management and organizations in Africa.

Membership Benefits & Services

AFAM membership operates on a biennial basis, meaning each membership covers a two-year period. Membership dues support AFAM’s mission to advance African management scholarship and research, including faculty development and scholarly capacity-building initiatives. The dues also contribute to AFAM’s annual activities, such as conferences, workshops, and social events, including AFAM-hosted socials held alongside the Academy of Management (AOM) annual conferences.

Membership Rates

AFAM membership runs on a biennial basis (i.e. a two-year membership cycle). Your membership dues support the work of AFAM to promote African management scholarship and research, including support for faculty and African management scholarship development initiatives. Your dues also support annual AFAM events, such as conferences, workshops, and all socials events, including AFAM hosted socials at the AOM annual conferences.

Special Institutional Rate

Africa Universities Institutional Membership – 60 USD per person (2 years)

when 6+ staff join together.

Membership Type Fee Duration Description
Academic (Diaspora) US$ 100 2 years These are researchers and, or teachers in a college, university or research institution outside Africa; including those individuals with an Emeritus Statusa
Practitioner US$ 100 2 years These are non-academic management consultants or practitioners located outside of Africa.
Academic (Africa) US$ 80 2 years These are researchers and, or teachers in a college, university or research institution in Africa; including those individuals with an Emeritus Status
Practitioner (Africa) US$ 80 2 years These are non-academic management consultants or practitioners located in Africa.
Student US$ 50 2 years These are full-time graduate students with an interest in the field of management. A proof of student status will be required. Part-time students pay the academic or practitioner rates as appropriate
