Two Conferences. One Vision for Africa.

The Africa Academy of Management (AFAM) is seeking proposals from African institutions to host either the 9th Biennial Conference (January 2028) or the 10th Biennial Conference (January 2030). In the spirit of promoting regional rotation, we prioritise submissions from regions yet to host for the first time.

Date: January 2028 Eligible: East Africa-based institutions Open to institutions in the East African region, including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia, DRC, and neighbouring nations.
East Africa Priority
10th
Biennial Conference

Date: January 2030
Eligible: All Africa-based institutions

Open to all African institutions. AFAM will prioritise regions that have yet to host a conference, advancing our continental rotation commitment.

All Africa-based institutions are welcome to submit proposals. AFAM is committed to regional rotation — we especially encourage first-time regions to apply. Your institution could make history by hosting AFAM’s milestone 10th conference.

Application Components

A complete proposal package must include all three components below, submitted together to both Co-Chairs before the deadline.

Institutional Proposal
Clearly demonstrate your institution’s ability and commitment to meet all minimum requirements. Outline how you will achieve each requirement and include additional activities that could enhance the conference experience. Full minimum requirements are available upon request.

Letter of Support
A formal letter of support from the relevant University or Faculty official must accompany the proposal. This letter should confirm institutional commitment to resource allocation and conference hosting responsibilities.

Attendance Indication
Indicate attendance from academic staff at previous AFAM Biennial Conferences. This demonstrates your institution’s existing engagement with the AFAM community and commitment to the Academy’s mission.

Competitive Review by AFAM Executive Committee

All proposals will be evaluated on a competitive basis by the Executive Committee of AFAM. Selection criteria include institutional capacity, regional representation, and the quality of the proposed conference experience.
